Nomuzi Mabena (born 22 September 1992), popularly known as Moozlie, is a South African rapper and television presenter. She joined MTV Base as a VJ after winning the 2012 MTV VJ Search.

In 2016, Mabena left MTV Base for VUZU and Channel O Africa. She joined Cashtime Life Records in 2014 but left in 2016. 

Hard work and perseverance have indeed earned her a top spot in showbiz. She is also a former Miss Benoni and has modeled and hustled her way into entertainment.

Early Life

Moozlie was born Nomuzi Mabena on 22 September 1992 in Benoni, Gauteng. Her father and mother raised her in Rynfield, Daveyton, a small suburb on the East Rand, Gauteng. She has an older sister.

Education

Nomuzi matriculated from St Dunstan’s College in Benoni. She enrolled for a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences at the Varsity College in Sandton. The rapper left college to focus on her entertainment career in 2012.

Career

Nomuzi won the MTV Base VJ Search on 20 October 2012. She became a VJ for MTV Base but left in April 2016 to join VUZU and Channel O Africa. She was in Cashtime Life Records for two years (2014 to 2016).

Moozlie became the new face of MTV Base at the grand finale hosted at Taboo in Sandton on Saturday night in October 2012. She also featured regularly in e.tv’s Club 808 music show with Dineo Ranaka and Mo Flava.

Congolese South African rapper Rouge featured her on his song Mbongo Zaka. She joined V Entertainment as a presenter. The show stopped airing in July 2017.

In 2017, Nomuzi started her record label, Nomuzi Mabena Music, under the management of SBR Projects Agency. She dropped her debut mixtape, Versus, in October 2017.

In 2018, she returned as a presenter, alongside Somizi Mhlongo, on the 1Magic flagship show “V Entertainment. She dropped her debut album, Victory, in September 2018. Her lead single, Vatela, featured Kid X.

Nomuzi partnered with Volkswagen SA and Drive Dry to create an awareness campaign against texting and driving. 

Moozlie inked a partnership with fashion retailer Factorie in 2023. Her relationship with Factorie started on social media through her fashion content.

Personal Life

Nomuzi Mabena ended her long-term relationship with Sbuda Roc in 2023. They had dated for eight years and would have celebrated their 9th anniversary in July 2023.

The duo unfollowed each other on Instagram and removed each other’s pictures. She moved out of Sbuda’s home to stay with her sister.

They were not married, but she was waiting for marriage before deciding on having kids. Her ex-boyfriend allegedly cheated on her with a girl from DJ duo TxC. She is single but is seeing someone.

Moozlie is friends with DJ Zinhle and Pearl Thusi. She has a sister, Nontuthuko.
